The Migration of Lymphocyte Subsets from Blood to Lymph in the Normal Rat
Individual lymphocyte subsets have different functions in the immune response, but only very few data exist on their blood transit time and their migration from blood to lymph. These data were obtained using thoracic duct lymphocytes (with up to 40% contaminating B-lymphocytes) as a source of T-lymphocytes (1) and either thymectomized, irradiated and bone marrow reconstituted rats (2) or nude rats (3) as a source of B-lymphocytes. No data have been recorded for the T-helper or T-suppressor lymphocytes.
