The Binding of Antigen Presenting Cells to T Lymphocytes

Abstract

Clonal selection theory predicted, and subsequent experiments have shown, that B and T lymphocytes express individualized receptors that recognize specific antigens. The receptors are heterodimers in which the amino terminal domains of each chain are highly variable and suitably diverse for antigen recognition.
