Scattering by a System of Zero-Range Potentials and the Partial Wave Method for a Nonspherical Scatterer

Abstract

Before considering the scattering by a system of ZRPs we shall investigate the general case of a scatterer described by a non-spherical potential operator V (ṟ) . We shall assume that V is Hermitian and time independent and that its magnitude falls off rapidly as r → ∞. Under these assumptions stationary scattering of waves or particles is described by the equation
$$\rm (- {1\over 2}\nabla^2-{1\over 2} k^2+ v)\ \psi=0.$$
