Abstract

Professor R. S. Porter of the University of the Massachusetts, who is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Polymer Science at the University of Southern Mississippi, presented a report on the generation and analysis of Polymer Morphologies and High Chain Extension at the Phillips Symposium. Tensile properties of semicrystalline thermoplastics may be improved by control of crystallization temperature and by the ultradrawing of polymer to produce polyolefins with tensile moduli of 220 GPA or polyethylene and 33 GPa for polypropylene.
