In these lectures I shall review the structure of superstring theory, which has attracted so much attention recently as a framework for the final “theory of everything”. String theory is by now an enormous field, involving new concepts and advanced mathematical techniques. In a few lectures I can only skim the surface of this rapidly developing theory, pointing out the main features and explaining, at a pedestrian level, some of the important ideas.
