Abstract

Enteropathies which are associated with immunological hypersensitivity to dietary protein antigens are rare, probably because feeding proteins to naive animals normally results in systemic tolerance. Therefore, investigating the mechanisms underlying the induction of oral tolerance in experimental animals should help clarify the pathogenesis of clinical food sensitive enteropathy (FSE).
