Somatostatin in the Treatment of Acute Pancreatitis

Abstract

The treatment of acute pancreatitis has markedly improved within the last 80 years. The lethality rate receded from 60% to a mean of 15–20%. However, this improvement was not due to any specific pancreatitis therapy but to intensive care measures alone.
