Radiation Transport in High Pressure Discharge Lamps

In a gas discharge, radiation of various frequencies is emitted, absorbed and scattered in various regions throughout the plasma. In passing through the plasma it acts as a means of conveying energy from one region to another, and participates in associated phenomena such as excitation, ionization and dissociation.
