Growth Control and Follicular Cell Neoplasia

  • H. Studer

In the previous lectures of this symposium we have been informed of the actual state of knowledge in the fields of growth control of follicular cells in vitro (Dr. Ambesi-Impiombato), of growth factors other than TSH (Dr. Dumont), and of metabolic events evolving in the growing cell (Dr. Pisarev). It now remains to be seen how the normal thyroid grows, how it is transformed into a goiter within the intact organism, and how a neoplasia can possibly develop from a normal gland.
