Legal Abortions in Socialist Countries of Eastern Europe: An Epidemiological Review
Abortion policies in the Socialist countries of Eastern Europe have undergone several major changes since 1920 when the USSR became the first country to legalize abortion on request. In 1955 the decree of 1936 outlawing abortion was repealed again and abortion was liberalized once more (abortion on request) in the USSR.
