Transient Inotropic and Dromotropic Responses to Brief Vagal Stimuli

Abstract

It is well known that vagal activity depresses cardiac chronotropic, dromotropic, and inotropic functions. However, much of the previous work in this area has concentrated on steady-state effects of continuous trains of vagal stimuli. This report is a brief synthesis of some of our work in this area, and will be concerned primarily with dromotropic and atrial inotropic effects.
