Abstract

A few years ago we began to study a model system for carcinogenesis for two main reasons: first, because the molecular tools to approach the system were starting to become available and, second, because we thought that oncogene studies in humans would eventually need a model system since the development of human tumors is not easy to manipulate experimentally and cannot be studied in depth. With that in mind, we began to study the induction of mouse lymphomas after treatment with a chemical carcinogen, nitrosomethyl urea (NMU), or with gamma irradiation.
