Chairman’s Summary

The notes to the discussion which followed the lecture of Professor Fleischmann find their proper place here, as they are connected with the preceding introduction, being focussed essentially on the general strategies to be developed with a view to widening the field of application of electrochemistry. The contribution from the audience stimulated the discussion on the ways of increasing the overall energy efficiency of existing industrial processes (Professor Wiesener), on the incidence of capital costs on the economy of electrochemical processes (Professor Murray), and on the possible advanced technological applications of electrochemical methodologies (Professor Bard).
