Mathematical Modelling of the Cornea and an Experimental Application
Adequate oxygen pressure is important for proper respiration of the cornea. Should the anterior surface oxygen pressure environment decrease below about 20 torr for as little as a few hours, the cornea becomes edematous and vision is impaired. A common cause for concern on this subject is in the use of contact lenses, both hard methylmethacrylate and soft hydrophilic lenses.
