Abstract
The following discussion uses the definition of mental retardation suggested by the American Association on Mental Deficiency (Heber, 1959). It is “a disorder associated with significantly subaverage general intellectual functioning expressed concurrently with deficits in adaptive behavior and manifested during childhood.”
