Abstract
Obviously, it is not possible to present in this chapter a comprehensive survey of all aspects and details of qualitative and quantitative histological and histochemical techniques that in the past have been the subject of almost encyclopedic volumes.1–10 The methods selected for description herein include the most frequently used techniques of tissue pretreatment, histological staining, quantitative histology, and qualitative and quantitative histochemistry appropriate for the elucidation of the structure and the histochemical distribution patterns of liver parenchyma.
