Abstract

The visual effects of unilateral damage to the frontal eye fields (FEF) in monkey include neglect of stimuli in the contralateral hemifield and conjugate deviation of the eyes towards the side ipsilateral to the lesion. These effects are temporary and gradual recovery typically occurs within a few weeks. The processes and structures involved in this recovery are unknown.
