Formation of the Lightest Muonic Atoms and the 2S-Lifetime of the (μ−4He)+ — Ion

Abstract

There are many experiments which require the formation of muonic atoms in low density gases in order to avoid collisions between the exotic atom and the host gas atoms. Prominent examples are the nuclear muon capture in the triplet state of μp1s atoms (discussed by I. Massa in this school), or the Lamb-shift in muonic hydrogen.
