Having studied the chapters in this book, the reader is bound to ask: What are the future directions of Piagetian theory, and specifically the theories of the neo-Piagetians? Although we do not presume to predict how the traditional Genevan school will further evolve, we have attempted to provide an insight into how the neo-Piagetians have begun to show a trend toward more individualized endeavors rather than a mere perpetuation of “traditional theory.” As we acknowledged earlier, we have viewed our role as that of introducing and presenting these works against the background of what is considered “traditional Piagetian theory.”
