Abstract
This chapter discusses the functioning of self-replicating systems as understood from studies on genes which contain all the hereditary information in living organisms. The discussion is based entirely on logical circuits. For chemical and physical properties of the molecules involved, the reader is referred to Molecular Biology of the Gene 1 and to DNA Replication 2.
