Abstract

The collection of mature, fertilizable oocytes is crucial for successful IVF-ET. Human oocytes are usually recovered by aspirating the pre-ovulatory follicle(s) using a needle introduced into the pelvic cavity at the time of laparoscopy. The object of this chapter is to review laparoscopy in general, and to describe step by step the technique and equipment used by our team at The University of Texas at Houston.
