Meson Exchange Models for Effective Interactions

  • G. E. Brown

The spin-isospin degrees of freedom; i.e., the giant Gamow-Teller resonances, are found to fit in well with the Boson exchange model of the nucleon-nucleon interaction. In particular, π- and p-meson exchange play major roles. Connection is made to the Ericson-Ericson-Lorentz-Lorenz correction in pionic atoms. Effects from the exchange of other mesons are discussed.
