Abstract

We would like to present a new approach to diagnosis and therapy in connection with psychosomatic and psychiatric clinical pictures. In our presentation we will concentrate primarily on our reflections on the first segment of an initial session we held with a patient suffering from psychiatric and psychosomatic symptoms. With the help of this clinical example, we hope to be able to illustrate the interactional approach — a method of diagnosis and therapy derived from psychoanalytic theory which makes it possible to reach patients with structural ego disturbances.
