Guanine Nucleotide Regulation of Agonist Binding to Hepatic α1-Adrenergic Receptors

Abstract

Guanine nucleotides exert multiple regulatory effects on adenylate cyclase-linked receptors, mediated through specific guanine nucleotide binding protein(s), which serve to transmit the hormonal signal from the receptor to the catalytic moiety of the adenylate cyclase system [1]. The role of guanine nucleotides is still unclear in the case of the α1-adrenergic receptor, which is not coupled to adenylate cyclase activity [2, 3].
