Abstract
My contribution to this symposium deals with one subject in particular, that is, the problems of myocardial infarction. Certainly until recently, myocardial infarction was generally considered as a purely organic illness, and treated accordingly. Psychosomatic research has, however, shown that psychic factors play a considerable role in the genesis of the disease. The writer has been working in this area for years. He considers this illness, in both its inception and its development, as a psychosomatic disease par excellence.
