Neurotensin is a tridecapeptide isolated originally from calf hypothalamus and subsequently from a variety of other tissues and species (1,2). It exhibits a broad spectrum of pharmacological effects both in the central nervous system and in peripheral tissues (reviewed in Ref. 2–4).
