Part of the Basic Life Sciences book series (volume 6)

This morning our speakers will present several approaches for assessing genetic toxicity, including plant and animal systems. As with any scientific experiment, we should be evaluating each assay system in regard to: the adequacy of controls, the statistical validity of the effects, the completeness of metabolism by activating systems, the relevance of the genotoxic endpoints to germinal or somatic mutation, and the relevance of the biological system and genotoxic endpoints to mutation in humans.
