Canadians are in a position to perceive the energy future of the world from a position of strength and not from weakness, and we are grateful for this. We produce more energy than we consume in this country. Compared to most other countries of the world, we are less vulnerable to the caprice of an international oil cartel and we are better able than most to break that dependency: our energy options are wide enough to preclude any sudden rush to energy choices that may compromise our social and environmental goals.
