This book introduces the reader to a variety of problems associated with the impaired physician. In this final section we would like to summarize briefly the recommendations which have emerged for further action. The recommendations include those applying to medical students, those to house officers, those to practicing physicians, and those to all three of these groups. In addition, the authors have recommended studies which would improve prevention and treatment efforts for the impaired physician.
