Abstract
A comprehensive study published in 1978 by Alan P. Bell and Martin S. Weinberg entitled Homosexualities: A Study of Diversity Among Men & Women17 presented a typology of homosexual identities and lifestyles which is useful, in part, to our study of prison homosexuals. In their study the authors listed five types of homosexuals: the close-coupleds, the open-coupleds, the functionals, the dysfunctionals, and the asexuals.
