  • Chapter
Biological Effects and Dosimetry of Nonionizing Radiation

Part of the book series: NATO Advanced Study Institutes Series ((NSSA,volume 49))

Abstract

Any review of this topic should include consideration of the development of the field of nonionizing radiation biohazard research in the broader context of the development of the biophysical interdisciplinary sciences. Hence I shall structure my lecture in three parts:

  1. 1.

The development of Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics.

  2. 2.

History of the nonionizing radiation field before World War 2.

  3. 3.

    History after World War 2.
