Abstract
General system theory refers to a group of assumptions concerned with describing the formal properties of organization systems. This viewpoint assumes that certain structural characteristics of organizational systems are universal and independent of the system being studied. Thus, properties of interactional systems can be understood without necessarily considering the properties of the individual units constituting the system or even the content of the interactional data (von Bertalanffy, 1968).
