Hydrophobic Labeling and Cross-Linking of Membrane Proteins

  • Hans Sigrist

Abstract

In recent years increasing effort has been put into the selective modification of membrane proteins (Hubbard and Cohn, 1976; Ji, 1979; Peters and Richards, 1977). The initially cumbersome task of modifying membrane proteins from within the lipid bilayer was stimulated by the expected answers to several basic questions in membrane biochemistry.
