Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering from Different Types of Metal Substrates

SERS from molecules adsorbed on different types of metal substrates including Ag- island films, Ag- and Au- sols and Ag- and Cu- electrodes has been studied. Additional absorption measurements have been performed to test several proposed explanations relating the Raman enhancement to plasmon or collective electron resonances.
