A neurosecretory protein was isolated from the brain and the corpora cardiaca of Locusta migratoria. Histoimmunochemical studies showed its presence in the granules of the type A neurosecretory cells of the pars intercerebralis and in the storage lobe of the corpora cardiaca. Recently, this neurosecretory protein was found to be released from the corpora cardiaca storage lobe along with a diuretic hormone by high-potassium saline and electrical stimulation of the nccI. It therefore behaves like pituitary neurophysin (Friedel et al., 1981; Orchard et al., 1981.)
