Synthesis, Storage, and Release of Neurohormones

  • Marie Raabe

Neurohormones are synthesized in the neurosecretory cells of the nervous system and in certain peripheral neurons. They are released in different neurohemal organs and sometimes in the effector itself. The ensuing discussion will provide basic information about the location and structure of the neurosecretory cells and neurohemal organs, as well as a review of our knowledge concerning their mode of operation and their regulation.
