Visual Handicaps

Abstract

As with the ability to hear, the ability to see may vary in degree of impairment from minor anomalies of sight which impose, especially with the use of corrective lens, little or no inconvenience, to complete blindness which, especially when present from birth, significantly changes life experiences and imposes major problems of adjustment in a seeing world. This chapter will focus primarily on those who are blind or partially blind rather than with those who are partially sighted or have a minor visual impairment.
