Magnetotelluric Resistivity in an Inhomogeneous Two-Layer Model

Abstract

The propagation of natural electromagnetic (e.m.) waves in a homogeneous and isotropic tabular half-space was studied in detail by Cagniard (1953). For such a half-space he obtained the expression of the wave impedance and thus of the apparent resistivity at the surface as a function of the period of the e.m. wave.
