Abstract

The transport sector is of particular importance for energy policy. Perhaps the most important policy issue for the next quarter century, in both the developed and the developing nations, is how to manage an orderly and timely transition away from short-lived resources — oil and gas — towards longer-lived energy sources, in a way which is consistent with aspirations for economic growth and development.
