An Attempt to Improve the Lifetime of Carbon Foils

Abstract

The lifetime of carbon foils has been improved by a factor of five by low energy argon ion bombardment. The investigations indicate that this is mainly due to the implanted Aratoms and most probably not caused by structural changes in the foil.
