Optimization Criterions for the Piezoelectric Transducers Used in Acoustical Imaging
In the past few years, new piezoelectric transducer materials (polymers like PVC, PVF, PVF2,...) appeared. They seem more interesting than ceramics for acoustic applications, particularly for medical imaging, because they are compliant and their acoustical impedance is closer to that of water than ceramic impedance.
