Frequency Switching in Dispersive Optical Bistability

The theory of dispersive optical bistability is considered with special attention to the cavity dynamics when the input frequency is changed. Changes in the conventions used in the slowly varying amplitude and phase approximation (SVEA) are necessary. The distinction between phase- and frequency-switching is shown. Preliminary results are discussed.
