Excitation and Radiative Properties of Surface Exciton States in Organic Molecular Crystal: Experimental Evidences and Quantum Mechanical Interpretation

Abstract

In the low temperatures reflection, fluorescence and excitation spectra of the |\(\overrightarrow {\rm{a}} \),\(\overrightarrow {\rm{b}} \)| face of anthracene monocrystal, we report the presence of structures shifting to lower energies under crystal surface coating. We interpret these structures as transitions involving the two Davydov components of surface and sub-surface exciton states.
