Abstract

Practical image data processing (IDP) is comprised of a sequence of functions, i.e., image data acquisition, correction, editing, storing, analysis and feature extraction, display and output/ dissemination. The major application areas are environment control, medicine, document processing, etc. Some users handle multiple frames for reference or comparison as well as a single frame at a time. A single CPU cannot afford to deal with various kinds of image data at various processing phases in an interactive multiuser environment.
