Report of High Energy Physics Group

Part of the Cryogenic Materials Series book series (CRYMS)

Abstract

The discussion by this group centered on the potential of A15 materials such as Nb3Sn for the next generation of high field accelerator magnets. Dipole coils capable of fields as high as 10 T are generally regarded as the goal despite the considerable difficulties being experienced with current magnets which are only required to produce fields between 4 and 5 tesla.
