Mechanical Properties of High Density Polyethylene-Polypropylene Blends

Abstract

High density polyethylene (HDPE) — isotactic polypropylene (iPP) blend specimens, directly obtained by extrusion, have been characterized by the following techniques:
  • Wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), to get informations on the orientation of the two homopolymers.

  • Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), to detect melting points and crystallinity contents of the polyolefins.

  • Equilibrium swelling in n-hexane, to know about the overall anisotropy of the samples.
