Kinetics of Deformation and Intermolecular Forces in Polymers

Abstract

Study of the nature of deformation as a kinetic process implies the following determination of the k — nptic parameters in the equation for the strain rate1–4. The enthalpy of activation Q(tm) as well as the activation volume L are usually found experimentally. Knowing Q(tm) and L, the activation energy for the process, Q o , can be found from the relation Q o = Q(tm)+Ltm(1), Experimental data available and the present understanding of the nature of the activation barrier of deformation are controversial5–7.
