Rheology of Disperse Systems — Influence of NaCl on Viscous Properties of Aqueous Bentonite Suspensions

Abstract

Clay suspensions of engineering interest are obtained through dispersion in water of clay minerals, whose particle dimensions are of the order of microns. Viscous properties of these suspensions are strongly influenced by electric charge distribution on the solid-liquid interface, whose extensions is very large. To distribution and nature of electric charge the stability against separation is also connected.
