An Experimental Study of the Dynamic Viscosity of Emulsions with Small Droplets in the kHZ Region

In the fifties the theoretical work of Rouse1 and Ziram2 on the linear viscoelastic properties of diluted polymer solutions stimulated the experimental investigation of such solutions. Although Fröhlich and Sack3 already in 1946 and Oldroyd in 19534 and 19555 predicted viscoelastic properties of dispersions and emulsions respectively, little experimental work in this field has been done ever since. The aim of our investigation is to demonstrate the existence of linear viscoelasticity of emulsions caused by drop deformation. This paper will show some preliminary results.
