Verification of Perturbative QCD in e+eAnnihilation

Abstract

These lectures on the theory of jets in e+e−annihilation will differ somewhat from the other lectures in this volume. In these lectures theory and experimental results will be mixed. The field of e+e−annihilation at high energies has so rapidly developed and new discoveries are made all the time that it does not make sense to consider the development of the theory in isolation. We must confront it with recent experimental results. New experimental data will come in the near future and will certainly make some of the reported theoretical predictions obsolete. But perhaps others will be confirmed. Thus these lectures describe the status of high energy e+e−annihilation as it appears in the fall of 1979.
